BOCAUE, Bulacan – After a fire incident, which burned down around 138 households in Barangay Antipona here last Tuesday, the provincial government of Bulacan, headed by Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado, with Provincial Social Welfare Development Office, gave immediate support to the more than 300 fire victims Thursday.

Each affected family was given half sack of rice, pack of clothes and emergency box consisting of sleeping mats, blankets, pillows and mosquito nets, while the financial assistance was still being worked on depending on the damage caused each household.
According to Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Rodante Galvez, the fire incident started at around 9:45 a.m. from an unattended LPG stove and lasted for about four hours with the fire alarm being raised to fourth level.
The fire was controlled at around 1:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Barangay Antipona Chairwoman Milagros Dabu said she was thankful that nobody was hurt in the incident, and expressed her gratitude to Fernando and Alvarado for the assistance given to her community.
“Salamat po at maraming tulong po kaming natatanggap at higit sa lahat ay wala naman pong nasakatan sa kanila. Malaking bagay ito para matulungang magsimula muli ang mga nasunugan lalo’t washed out po talaga ang mga kabahayan at kahit papaano po ay nakikita ko rin naman na ikinasasaya ng mga tao dito sa evacuation kapag may mga dumadating na tulong,” Dabu said.
Affected families are currently staying at the New Municipal Hall of Bocaue in Barangay Igulot where various activities, such as film showing, are being conducted every day to ease the trauma of the victims.
Prior to the distribution of goods and rice sacks to the fire victims in this town, 23 families from the towns of Obando and Hagonoy also received financial assistance worth P10,000 for those whose houses were totally damaged, while five families with partially damaged houses received P5,000.
In addition, a total of 24 households from the towns of Pulilan, Calumpit, Balagtas, Bocaue, San Ildefonso, Doña Remedios Trinidad and City of Malolos also received half sacks of rice and emergency bags each.
