This Swiss luxury beauty brand is committed to art and beauty preservation

Thanks to La Prairie, we're getting to know more about this private painter

It took two years to accomplish the Piet Mondrian Conservation Project that's in partnership with the Fondation Beyeler. The target is an exhibition in 2022 where it will showcase Mondrian's works, hoping to be appreciated for generations to come.

This project aims for art historians and the public to get a better grasp of who Mondrian is and his influence on visual culture. For those who don't know him that well, Piet Mondrian was born on 1872, and his woks are mostly that of black lines with iconic framed rectangles of white, blue, red, and yellow. He's a considered a purist when it comes to his works, which has led La Prairie to believe that they have something in common.

X-radiography, infrared reflectography are just some of the scientific approaches to research on Mondrian art.

"The more I get involved with Mondrian, the more I am fascinated by this painter," Ulf Küster, senior curator of Fondation Beyeler chimes in. "He is full of surprises." On the other hand, La Prairie has always been known in its search for timeless beauty made through scientific breakthroughs, and this follows the same purpose when it comes to art conservation—in-depth examination, scientific study, assessment of condition, and predicting the impact of time and change through technology-based methods such as X-radiography, infrared reflectography, material analyses and high magnification. 

Through intensive research, the parties involved found out that Mondrian's art is a process of evolution and experimentation over a period of time. It's not an artwork that is done on a whim. The devil is also in the details, and with Mondrian, they're mostly hidden, waiting to be discovered on how much of a perfectionist Mondrian was.
