The third and last day of the 2024 online Bar examinations will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, in 13 local testing centers (LTCs) nationwide.
It was not known immediately how many of the more than 10,400 Bar examinees who showed up during the 1st and 2nd day of the examinations last Sept. 8 and 11 will take the final tests.
Subjects scheduled on Sept. 15 are Criminal Law in the morning and Remedial Law and Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises in the afternoon.
Passers in the examinations will be released by the Supreme Court (SC) before the year ends and the oath taking and signing of the Roll of Attorneys will be held immediately thereafter.
SC Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, chairperson of the 2024 Bar examinations committee, said the first two days of the examinations were “smooth and successful.”
Led by Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo and Associate Justice Lopez, the other justices visited LTCs nationwide and monitored the conduct of the examinations. They gave words of wisdom and inspiration to the aspiring lawyers, the SC’s Public Information Office (SC-PIO) said in a press briefer.
The SC-PIO said that during the 2nd day of the examinations last Sept. 11, Justice Lopez was at the 2024 Bar National Headquarters (NBH) and LTC at the San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) in Muntinlupa City before proceeding to the five other LTCs in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Lopez first dropped by the University of the Philippines-Bonifacio Global City (UP-BGC) in Taguig City before proceeding to the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) in Quezon City. He then visited the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Sampaloc, Manila; San Beda University (SBU) in San Miguel, Manila; and Manila Adventist College (MAC) in Pasay City before returning to the NHQ.
Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin S. Caguioa went to UP-BGC and UPD; Associate Justice Samuel H. Gaerlan visited UP-BGC and SBU; and Justice Ricardo R. Rosario dropped by at the LTC in Pasay City.
Chief Justice Gesmundo and Associate Justice Jhosep Y. Lopez visited the LTC in the Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation in Tacloban City, where three pregnant women were among the Bar examinees.
Senior Associate Justice Marvic M.V.F. Leonen was at the LTC in Saint Louis University, Baguio City, where the oldest examinee who is 78 years old took the tests.
Associate Justice Amy C. Lazaro-Javier and Associate Justice Antonio T. Kho Jr. visited the LTC at University of San Jose-Recoletos, Basak Campus in Cebu City, while Associate Justice Japar B. Dimaampao dropped by at the Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City.
Associate Justice Jose Midas P. Marquez visited the LTC at the Central Philippine University LTC in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Justice Lopez expressed optimism that the last day of the examinations will likewise proceed without any issues.
“My deep gratitude goes to Chief Justice Gesmundo, Senior
Associate Justice Leonen, and my fellow Associate Justices for their support and for inspiring our examinees through their visits to various local testing centers nationwide. The dedication of our more than 2,000-strong Bar personnel is truly commendable as they ensured an efficient and seamless operations day,” he also said.
