Motorists traversing through the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will be paying additional toll fees starting June 4 this year after the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) approved on May 29 the second tranche of toll adjustments.
Motorists traveling within the open system, from Balintawak, Caloocan City to Marilao, Bulacan, will pay an additional P5 for regular cars and sports utility vehicles (SUV) (Class 1), P14 for buses and small trucks (Class 2), and P17 for Class 3 vehicles.
Hence, fees for the NLEX open system will now be as follows: P74 for Class 1, P186 for Class 2, and P223 for Class 3.
Meanwhile, vehicles coursing through the closed system, covering the North of Marilao to Sta. Ines will pay an extra P21 for Class 1, P54 for Class 2, and P65 for Class 3.
From North Marilao to Subic-Tipo, an additional P2 for Class 1, P7 for Class 2, and P8 for Class 3 will be implemented.
Toll fares for end-to-end travel between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City will now cost P359 (P27 increase) for Class 1, P897 (P68 increase) for Class 2, and P1,076 (P81 increase) for Class 3 vehicles.
In a statement on May 29, NLEX Corporation, the concessionaire of NLEX, said the added rates were part of the approved periodic adjustments for NLEX fares due in 2019 and 2021, which was split in two tranches to ease the impact of inflation to the public.
The initial tranche, which was only 50 percent of the intended toll hike, was approved by the TRB last May 25, 2023, and took effect on June 15, 2023.
This year, NLEX Corp. opened the new F. Raymundo Exit in Meycauayan and widened the Meycauayan northbound exit ramp to help decongest traffic in the area.
Construction of the Candaba Third Viaduct, which is expected to expand the bridge with three lanes with inner and outer shoulders per direction, is ongoing.
NLEX Corp plans to begin construction of the first two-kilometer section of the NLEX-C5 link from NLEX Mindanao toll plaza to Quirino Highway in Novaliches by the third quarter of this year.
Moreover, the firm is also constructing NLEX San Fernando to SCTEX Spur in Mabalacat, Pampanga, which aims to expand road capacity from 2x2 lanes to 3x3 lanes.
