Malay police receive 6 motorcycle patrol units

The local police and local government of Malay, Aklan receive the six units of motorcycles from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) in a ceremony held on Wednesday, Aug, 21, 2024. 

 

The Malay Police Station in Aklan received on Wednesday Aug. 21, six motorcycles that will be used to increase police visibility in the municipality, which includes the world-famous Boracay Island.

This, after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) earlier approved the request of then Malay Police Station commander Lt. Col. Don Dicksie De Dios for additional mobility equipment amid the efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to maximize police presence as part of the security measures, especially in top tourist destinations in the country.

De Dios, the longest-serving Malay Police Station commander, was credited for improving the peace and order situation in the Boracay and the rest of the Malay town through  dialogues and coordination with various local government for the  implementation of peace and order that includes aggressive campaigns against illegal gambling, illegal drugs and various criminal activities.

Part of his program is maximum police visibility and it was this strategy that prompted him to request for mobility assets from Pagcor chairman Al Tengco, with the assistance of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) general manager Mel Robles.

Following the approval of Pagcor, the Malay local government unit led by Mayor  Frolibar Bautista started the public bidding which later led to the procurement of six motorcycle patrol units, all 155cc Yamaha Aerox.

“These motorcycles are expected to greatly enhance the mobility and operational efficiency of the Malay PNP,” said Bautista. 

On Wednesday, the motorcycles were received by the Malay Police Station now led by Police Lt. Col. Mar Joseph Ravelo.

The motorcycle patrol units are fully-equipped with essential accessories.
