SMB taking precautionary measures on Romeo injury

The flamboyant playmaker asked to be taken out of the ball game in the second quarter after feeling some discomfort on a swollen left knee.

SMB head coach Jorge Gallent revealed that Romeo has been nursing a bone bruise since the third quarter of the Beermen’s 117-113 overtime loss against NLEX last Wednesday and just tried to play through the pain in the first half against Meralco

“Last game against NLEX, I think in the middle of the third, I think he felt something doon sa knee niya. Now, despite all of that, Terrence still played,” said Gallent.

“I’m very grateful to him that he still played today. He just had that limited minutes now. He told me about it, he’ll just try to play as hard as he can, which he did,” he added.

Despite the injury, Romeo was actually playing well, scoring nine points in just 10 minutes of action but the high-scoring guard decided to call it a day at halftime in fear of aggravating the injury.

“Sa halftime, he just said na he’ll just rest na lang daw because it might become worse. I’m really happy he played the first half. He just decided to rest in the second half because of the pain,” added Gallent.

The injury came as a setback for Romeo who opened the conference with a 27-point explosion against NLEX although he only rode the bench in overtime period probably due to the same knee injury.

Still. it’s more important for Romeo to take precaution as he wants to be 100 percent playing inside the court. He will have a week to try and recover from the knee injury before SMB plays Converge in Tiaong, Quezon.

“Hopefully, siguro, next game, or next next game, titignan ko. Importante, talaga gusto ko, 100 percent na yung, wala na yung swelling tapos full range of motion na yung paa ko,” said Romeo.
