The Year of the Earth Dog was off to a roaring start at the Porsche Philippines’ dealership in Ortigas as members of the media were treated to the annual Noodle Party that was made extra spicy with the announcement that two more trims were to spruce up the already extensive Panamera lineup in the country.
Even with hóngbao hanging on makeshift trees around the dining area and an unlimited amount of delectable Chinese delights to feast on, two new Panamera models easily stole the spotlight as it glimmered at the foyer of the Carrera Café.
For those looking for more variety in the full-size luxury sedan segment, the country’s sole distributor proudly put on display the sportiest versions of its executive-class car, the Panamera 4 Sport Turismo and the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo.
“We are proud to present the newest addition to the Porsche model range: the Panamera 4 Sport Turismo and the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo. This model line of the Panamera luxury sedan perfectly reflects the Porsche design DNA,” said President and Chief Executive Officer, Roberto Coyiuto III.
Boasting of a 4+1 seat concept option (the first-ever Panamera to do so), which makes it a true five-seater, and a roomy cabin, the exterior of the Panamera 4 Sport Turismo still manages to maintain the Porsche silhouette, albeit in an upsized form with a length of 5,049 mm, height of 1,428 mm, width of 1,937 mm and wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
It comes powered by a turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 24-valve 3.0-liter V-6 that pumps out 330-PS and 450-Nm of torque capable of sending the vehicle to a top speed of 264 kilometers per hour.Layout is all-wheel drive and the transmission is Porsche’s 8-speed PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung).
To allow this larger version of a Porsche to handle much better and increase mechanical grip, it adds 50 kilograms of downforce on the rear axle by using a dynamic roof spoiler that deploys in three stages based on the driving condition, speed and vehicle settings.
The Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo uses a twin-turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 32-valve 4.0-liter V-8 with 550 PS and 770 Nm of torque sent through the same 8-speed PDK to an all-wheel drive system.
Top speed is 304 kilometers per hour and goes from 0-100 kilometers per hour in just 3.8 seconds.
It uses an aerodynamic guide element, which is a part of the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA), that stays retracted up until 170 kilometers per hour in order to reduce drag and optimize fuel consumption.
Rear storage capacity of both models is at 520 liters and loading is made easier by a wide-opening, electronically-operated tailgate.
“The launch of the Panamera Sport Turismo models here in Philippines is only a sneak preview of what Porsche has in store for this year. I am excited to bring this iconic German brand to greater heights as it continues on its path to success this 2018,” added Coyiuto.
