Roque hopes for broadcaster Doris Bigornia's speedy recovery

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has extended his prayers for ABS-CBN veteran broadcaster Doris Bigornia who suffered from a heart attack early this month.

Roque made the statement after Bigornia's colleagues confirmed on Tuesday that she suffered a heart attack and was set to undergo open-heart surgery.

In his Wednesday presser, Roque said that he was praying for the speedy recovery of the reporter whom he has personally known since he was still an activist.

He also noted that Bigornia is a former member of the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC), a group of reporters from different media organizations assigned to cover presidential events.

"Pinagdarasal po natin ang mabilis na recovery ng ating dating kasamahan dito po sa MPC, dati ko na pong kasama ito kahit noong mga panahong aktibista pa ako, si (We pray for the speedy recovery of our former colleague here at the MPC, and someone who had been with me even when I was still an activist), ABS-CBN reporter Doris Bigornia," he said.

"Doris, pagaling ka (get well soon) and we're praying for your speedy recovery," he added.

Bigornia’s family and relatives asked for prayers for her speedy recovery.

Also known as the Mutya ng Masa, Bigornia is a known broadcast journalist. She celebrated her 55th birthday on February 17.

In one of his speeches in August 2017, President Duterte publicly offered Bigornia the position of Secretary at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) after it was vacated by Judy Taguiwalo.

Bigornia, however, declined the offer.
