Number two wanted drug personality of Novaliches Police Station nabbed The number two target drug personality of Novaliches Police Station (PS-4) and his four other cohorts were arrested in Quezon City over the weekend. Arrested in the latest buy-bust conducted by PS-4 were Michael Tonido, 33; Joselito De Vera, 44; Alma Cuenco, 49; Francis Cuenco, 38; and Solito Villafranca, 30. Lt. Col. Rossel Cejas, commander of Quezon City Police District's PS-4, said Tonido was listed as the number two drug personality of their police station and was known in drug peddling activities in their area. Operatives of PS-4 Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) transacted with the group at San Ignacio Street in Barangay Gulod around 11:15 p.m. and purchased P12,000 worth of illegal drugs. Confiscated from them were various sizes of sachets containing shabu amounting to P34,000, two mobile phones, and some drug paraphernalia. Arrested suspects are now under police custody and were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 while the confiscated illegal drugs were turned-over to Crime Laboratory. (Alexandria San Juan) Shooting incident leaves 14-year old boy injured A 14-year-old boy was injured after he was shot by a still unidentified gunman, driving a white van in Taguig City on Sunday. The victim was identified as John Carlitos Velacruz, a resident of MRB, Barangay Ususan, Taguig City. He is now in stable condition at the Medical Center Taguig. Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 3:30 in the morning at Blk. 49 near a convenience store, Phase 2, Pinagsama, Taguig City. Police said that the victim was together with his friends walking on their way home when a white van blew its horn right behind them. The group, thinking that it was the barangay they suddenly scampered in different directions before later hearing gunshot. Velacruz told police that soon after he felt numbness on his left leg and noticed that he had gunshot wound. He was later brought to the Taguig Medical Center where he is currently confined. The case is still under investigation to be able to identify if the suspect was from the barangay as well as the vehicle. (Dhel Nazario) Separate shooting incidents leave one woman dead, three others injured A woman was killed while three men, including a person believed to be facing a murder case, were wounded in two separate shooting incidents in Malabon City on Sunday evening. P/Col. Jessie Tamayao, Malabon police chief, identified the fatality as Yrla Jane Quila, 28; while those injured as Marivic Damaso, 30, Leo Buenaventura 30, and Rudy Roquero, of legal age. P/Maj. Aldrin Thompson, assistant police chief of operations, said that Buenaventura, who sustained gunshot wounds in his face and his shoulder, might have an existing warrant of arrest for murder, but they have yet to confirm this. Investigation showed that Quila, Damaso, and Buenaventura were on their way home from a birthday party when five men approached them and suddenly shot at them in Sitio 6 in Barangay Catmon at around 10:10 p.m. Police said that three of the suspects were only identified by witnesses as a certain Kin, Pegi and Warren, all residents of Barangay Catmon, Malabon. The victims were then rushed to Tondo General Hospital. Quila, who sustained gunshot wound in her head, eventually died, while Damaso and Roquero are still at a hospital as of press time. Meanwhile, at around 6 p.m. of the same day, Roquero was reportedly shot by a certain Mac-mac while onboard a jeepney. He sustained gunshot wounds in his left and right hands. Thompson told Manila Bulletin that Ronnie Eleuterio, 52, was believed to be the one who ordered the crime. Thompson added that jealousy might be the motive behind the shooting as the victim’s live-in-partner was Eleuterio’s former live-in-partner. Eleutero is now under police custody for proper disposition. The police are now hunting down the suspects. (Joseph Almer Pedrajas)
