Typhoon ‘Maymay’ (international name ‘Jebi’) has already left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) but the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring rains over Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
(PAGASA / MANILA BULLETIN)
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Meno Mendoza said Maymay has left the PAR early Monday morning.
Around 5 a.m. Monday, Maymay was at 1,330 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving north-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour (kph).
It has slightly weakened with maximum sustained winds of 180 kph and gustiness of up to 220 kph while on its way to Japan.
Mendoza said the typhoon has no direct effect in any part of the Philippines.
However, the habagat will bring scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, Zambales, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Visayas.
Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels and in low-lying and mountainous areas, were advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides.
