Zamboanga cops nab SK chairman, 5 others in anti-drug ops

A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) official and five others were arrested while some PHP166,600 worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate anti-drug operations in the region, police said Tuesday.

Capt. Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office- (PRO-9) information officer, identified the SK official as Glenn Celeste Jr., 21, the SK chairperson of Barangay Culasian, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Celeste, who was arrested in an anti-drug operation Monday evening in Barangay Culasian, Titay, yielded some PHP2,500 worth of suspected shabu and other pieces of evidence, police said.

Duco identified the other arrested suspects as Titing Sadjali, 51; Nurdiana Abdulbakhadz, 23; Elizalde Bejerano, 48; Dadifred Lastimado, 26; and, Escobar Lakim, 38.

Sadjail and Abdulbakhadz, who are alleged big-time pushers, were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:10 a.m. Tuesday in Barangay Sta. Catalina here, police said.

Police said the two yielded some PHP150,000 worth of suspected shabu and other pieces of evidence.

Bejerano, meanwhile, yielded some PHP5,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation around 8 p.m. Monday in Faustino Drive, Barangay Mampang here, police said.

Lastimado, on the other hand, was caught in possession of some PHP3,600 worth of dried marijuana leaves, PHP500 marked money, and PHP50 proceeds money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:30 p.m. Monday in Barangay Sta. Filomena, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, police said.

Police said Lakim yielded some PHP5,500 worth of suspected shabu and other pieces of evidence in an anti-drug operation around 10 p.m. Monday in Barangay Doña Cecilia, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Duco said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against them.
