DAVAO CITY --- Mayor Sara Z. Duterte is looking forward to a closer collaboration between the city and Singapore, following the recent visit here of Singaporean President Halimah Yacob. Yacob visited Davao as part of her state visit to the country.

(FACEBOOK / MANILA BULLETIN) "As this visit stamps another milestone in our shared history, let us look forward to fruitful exchanges for the betterment and benefits of both of our nations," Duterte said in her message during the welcome dinner for Yacob Tuesday night at The Marco Polo Davao. The presidential daughter also congratulated Yacob on Singapore’s bi-centennial year celebration. In her message, Yacob also appreciated the colorful culture of the city which showed the vibrant color of the Philippines. "We enjoy so many ties with the Philippines, " she said. The Singaporean leader said these ties could lead to a deeper cooperation, not just on the national level, but also with key Philippine cities such as Manila, Cebu City, and Davao City. "There are strong synergies for economic cooperation and business partnerships with any industry sectors," she said. Last Wednesday, Yacob visited the Philippine Eagle Center in Barangay Malagos to see its Biodiversity Program since Singapore and the Philippines signed an agreement for Breeding Loan for the two Philippine Eagles. She also had an interfaith dialogue at Ateneo de Davao University with the youth sector in Mindanao, organized by Al Qalam Institute.
