CEBU CITY— Thousands of sacks of rice amounting to P2.8 million were distributed by the office of Cebu Vice Governor Hilario Davide III to various local government units (LGUs) in the province.
A total of 2,220 sacks of rice have been distributed since Davide started his community program last April aimed at helping those affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“This is the time for us to unite and extend our hands to our fellow Cebuanos, no matter how small or big it would be. With the help of our Almighty Father, I am optimistic that we will all surpass this crisis that we are facing,” said Davide in a statement.
The initial rice distribution benefited 31 towns and six component cities. Each city got 100 sacks of rice while every municipality received 50 sacks.
The Office of the Vice Governor likewise donated 50 sacks of rice to the Association of Barangay Councils-Cebu Province.
Davide used his legislative assistance fund to purchase the sacks of rice from the National Food Authority.
LGUs that have yet to receive will be the beneficiaries in the next batch of distribution, the governor said.
