10 injured in Agusan del Sur road accident

By Mike Crismundo Butuan City -- Ten persons were injured when a road accident took place along the national highway in Purok 2, Barangay Salvacion, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur late afternoon yesterday, police reported Friday. In a flash report reaching the police regional headquarters here from Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) said the passengers of Bachelor Express bus with plate number LWS 717 driven by Jonathan B. Comaitem, 42, and Nissan Navarra pickup with plate number OW1324 driven by Kevin Randell Yeo Sy, 21, collided head on resulting in injuries. (PIXABAY / MANILA BULLETIN) (PIXABAY / MANILA BULLETIN) Sy, manager of Agrichem Surecrop Inc. based in Davao City, and his companion, Brendo Villanueva of legal age, were brought to Davao City hospital while the seven injured passengers including the driver of Bachelor bus were also brought to D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur for medical treatment. The injured bus passengers were Marlyn M. Llones, 36; Joery G. Yaoyao, 29, both of Agusan del Sur; Joy S. Catillo, 20 of Barangay Luna Kapalong, Davao del Norte; Florencia S. Juanico, 79 of Barangay, Canayugan, Bayugan City; Damelyn C. Junico, 23 of Purok 1, Canayugan, also of Bayugan City; Jocelyn C. Ayala, 36, and Khryzegian C. Salisad, 3 years old, both of Simulao, Bunawan Brook, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. Initial investigation conducted by the Prosperidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) showed that the Bachelor bus was heading to San Francisco town, Agusan del Sur from Butuan City when it collided with the Nissan Navarra pickup at 5:30 p.m. yesterday. “Kevin Sy was driving his vehicle heading to Butuan City from Davao City but upon reaching the uneven, narrow, curved and downhill portion of the highway, suddenly bumped the Bachelor bus, which was on its lane,” the Prosperidad MPS initial report said. As a result, both drivers and their passengers sustained injuries while the vehicles involved incurred severe damage at the front, it said. Both vehicles were brought to Prosperidad MPS for proper disposition. As of this posting, Prosperidad MPS is still conducting further investigation on the said incident, PRO 13-PIO report added.
