San Pedro, Laguna LGU breaks ground for new tertiary public hospital
SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna – The local government unit here held a ground-breaking ceremony for the San Pedro Medical Center (SPMC) in Barangay Narra on Wednesday, August 3.
The ceremony was led by Mayor Art Mercado and other local officials.
In a Facebook post, Mercado said the construction of the new public hospital aims to make healthcare services more accessible to the public.
The former vice mayor and newly-elected mayor also promised that he will ensure that residents' taxes will be used efficiently in the hospital construction as well as other city government projects.
"Sinisimulan na po natin nang paunti-unti ang mga proyekto para sa ating bayan at mga kababayan. Hindi po ito magiging madali o mabilis kaya humihingi po ako ng konting pangunawa at pasensiya (Little by little, we will start the projects for our city and residents. It will not be easy or fast, so I ask for your understanding and patience)," Mercado said.
The City Public Affairs and Information Office said once the tertiary hospital is complete, residents will not have to travel to other cities or municipalities for their medical needs.
