Super Marco, Flaptzy save day as Sibol survives Mongolia in nail-biter
A clutch split push from Marco “Super Marco” Requtiano and David “Flaptzy” Canon saved the day for Sibol MLBB national team after surviving Mongolia, 2-1, in their nail-biting upper bracket finals match in the IESF Asia-Oceania qualifiers at the Riyadh Boulevard in Saudi Arabia.
With the series tied 1-1 and the Filipinos trailing for the most part of the winner-take-all Game 3, Sibol needed a huge initiation from Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo to turn things around before Super Marco and Flaptzy put on the finishing touches with a backdoor play to close out the series. Riding the momentum from a strong Game 2 showing that evened the series, Mongolia dictated the tempo in the early game of the deciding contest with a lineup anchored on an Estes. Sibol managed to endure the Lord siege from Mongolia before they went for a counter attack. A four-man conceal play from Sibol allowed Owgwen on the roaming Grock to catch four Mongolian players on its Wild Charge ultimate. The rest of Sibol followed up and took down three heroes of the opponents to secure the Lord. Mongolia was able to survive the siege but it went all out in taking down Michael “Kyletzy” Sayson’s Hayabusa in the top lane. That distraction created by Karltzy, however, proved to be enough for Super Marco on the Karrie and Flaptzy on the Fredrinn to sneak into the base and finish the match in a come-from-behind, 13-11, win. It was actually Sibol which drew first blood in the series with a dominant 15-4 win. Kyletzy led the way in that win with a 5-0-3 KDA on the Hayabusa while Super Marco added a 4-0-4 line on the Claude. Magnolia, though, ended Sibol’s erstwhile perfect run in the tournament after a huge fightback in Game 2. The Mongolians caught the Filipinos off guard with a wire-to-wire 16-2 win.
