By Jean Fernando The team of Southern Police District (SPD) is preparing to conduct another medical mission and relief operation to help the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption, after assisting victims and evacuees at Rosario Easy Central School in Rosario, Batangas last Sunday. On Wednesday they will bring their relief mission to Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Last Sunday, the SPD were joined by some members coming from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).  All in all, 470 police personnel and 116 civilians, volunteers, doctors, and nurses from the Philippine Medical Association joined the activity. The SPD brought face masks and the following medicines: paracetamol for pain and fever, losartan and amlodipine for hypertension, carbocisteine and cetirizine for asthma, Metformin for diabetes, and different kinds of multi-vitamins, particularly for children and senior citizens. They gave the 2,021 evacuees packs of relief goods containing sardines, bottled water, bread, biscuits, rice, and milk for children. They also donated 50 folding beds for the use of families with small children, 13 sacks of adult male clothes, two boxes and 15 sacks of adult female clothes, two boxes of children’s clothes, 120 pairs of children’s slippers, 65 bedsheets, and toiletries such as diapers, pails, face towels, and toothbrushes. The SPD expressed their gratitude to doctors and nurses from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Ospital ng Sampaloc, Abad Santos General Hospital, and Sta. Ana Hospital for helping them conduct their medical mission. The NCRPO combo band also performed for three hours to entertain evacuees, and SPD Director Brig Gen. Nolasco Bathan gave an encouraging speech.
