Agusan del Norte town bans liquor during calamities

By Mike Crismundo CARMEN, Agusan del Norte- The municipal government of this town will now strictly ban the buying and selling of liquors during calamities and disasters to ensure the safety and security of Carmenons and the general public. Under Municipal Ordinance No. 14-2018, sanctions will be imposed on the person who violates the ordinance with a P500.00 fine for the first offense, P1,000.00 for the second offense, and P1,500 for the third and succeeding offense. Local officials believe that alcohol intoxication limits the physical capacity of an individual thereby putting him more at risk, especially in times of emergencies where alertness is required. The said ordinance was authored by Sangguniang Bayan Member Wilfredo T. Taglucop and was approved through Sanggunian Resolution No. 410-2018 authored by Agusan del Norte Provincial Board Member Aquino W. Gambe.
