Korean actor Jun Tae Soo dead at 33

Korean actor Jun Tae Soo, brother of popular actress Ha Ji Won, died on Jan. 21 at age 33 after failing to overcome depression. His death was announced by his agency, Haewadal Entertainment, which said that Jun Tae Soo “was constantly being treated for depression and as his condition was improving, we were discussing his return as an actor until recently.” The agency said that Jun Tae Soo, “who had a passion for acting, was a pure artist who was deeply involved in various fields such as art. Please refrain from writing speculative articles or bad comments.” It said the funeral will be held with family members and acquaintances in attendance and asked the media “to refrain from covering the funeral hall” to give respect to the deceased. His last post on Instagram was a picture of himself uploaded on Jan. 11. After starring in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” Jun Tae Soo’ next project was the sitcom “All My Love,” which began airing in November 2010. However, in January 2011, he was arrested after assaulting a taxi driver and a police officer while drunk. As a result, he withdrew from “All My Love” and went on hiatus. His last TV drama was “The King’s Daughter, Soo Baek-hyang,” which ran from September 2013 to March 2014. Since then, he did not appear in movies and dramas. Due to his brother's death, Ha Ji Won has cancelled all her upcoming activities including attending the press conference for her movie “Manhunt” slated today, Jan. 22.
