Man shot dead by riding in tandem in Pasig A man cleaning his motorcycle was shot dead by men riding-in-tandem in Pasig City Sunday afternoon. Police identified the fatality as Michael Padua, 39, married, of Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City. Initial investigation showed that at around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Padua was cleaning his motorcycle beside their house in Parian Creek when two unidentified men on board a black motorcycle arrived and the back rider shot him multiple times at close range. Padua died on the spot, while the suspects then quickly fled towards an undetermined direction, police said. Probers recovered four fired cartridge cases of the still undetermined caliber of firearm. PSMS Jake Nuevo, case investigator, told the Manila Bulletin the firearm used in the killing was never recovered. “Investigation is ongoing. Residents say they did not saw what happened so no one can provide the descriptions of the suspects,” Nuevo said. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas) TNVS driver arrested by cops for pointing a gun replica at a guard in Makati

A transport network vehicle service driver who was accused of pointing a gun replica at a security guard was apprehended in front of a bar in Makati City on Sunday.

Major Gideon Ines Jr., Makati police investigation chief,  identified the suspect as 31-year-old Hyron Henry Roscom.

Roscom, according to a police report, went out of his car and pointed a pellet gun at security guard Genonevo Azarcon Jr., 39 , along J.P. Rizal Avenue in Barangay Olympia, Makati around 2 a.m.

But this was refuted by Roscom by saying that he was shocked when he was arrested by barangay tanods (watchmen).

“After we got out  the bar, I entered my car. It is not true that I pointed the pellet gun at the guard,” Roscom said in Filipino. “I was very shocked when I saw the barangay watchmen approaching me.”

On the other hand, he admitted that there was really an air-soft gun inside his car.

“I was really bringing the air-soft gun inside my car because it’s broken. I was supposed to bring it to a repair shop. Maybe the guard saw it,” he said.

The pellet gun seized was a replica of a caliber .38 revolver.

Ines said that they will retrieve a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage in to check if the claim of the suspect is true.

4 people nabbed by police in buy-bust op, P100,000 worth of illegal drugs seized More than P100,000 worth of illegal drugs was seized from four drug suspects nabbed during a buy-bust in Quezon City over the weekend. Quezon City Police Station 10 (PS-10) chief, PLTCOL Benjie Tremor identified the arrested suspects as Roger Zarate, 34, a resident of Brgy. Roxas District, and his cohorts Nestor Giba, 48, Lottaday Pontillas, 35, and Daniel Rivas, 29. Police said Zarate was included in the drug watchlist of their barangay and was tagged in illegal drug peddling in their area. This prompted authorities of PS-10 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to conduct joint drug sting against the suspects. An undercover officer posed as a buyer and transacted with the group around 12:30 a.m. Sunday near Zarate's house resulting in their arrest. Authorities were able to confiscate from the suspects six medium sachets and four small sachets of shabu with an estimated street value of P108, 800, a weighing scale, three mobile phones, and the buy-bust money. Arrested drug suspects are now under police custody and were charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Alexandria San Juan) Vendor in critical condition after being shot by a security guard during a heated argument in Paranaque A vendor is now in critical condition after he was shot by a duty security guard during a heated argument in Parañaque City on Sunday evening. The victim identified by police as Jomar Asturas, 29, is still under observation at the San Juan De Dios Hospital. A companion of Asturas, identified as Kim Rosco, 28, was also injured after he was hit with a steel pipe by a security guard. Police arrested security guards, Rudy Castillo, 60; Alberto Omaquing, and Eduardo Latorre, 47. The gunman remains unknown since the guards refuse to divulge his identity. Investigation showed that the incident occurred at around 6 in the evening at Bagong Sibol, Barangay Don Galo, Parañaque City. Police said that Asturas and Rosco, together with a certain Josephine Dalimpapas who were allegedly drunk were walking when they were cautioned by the security personnel who were then detailed at a vacant property. The three got irked by this and a heated argument soon ensued between the two groups. Police said that as the three were about to leave, Omaquing suddenly approached Rosco and struck him with a steel pipe. Due to this, residents of Bagong Sibol came to Rosco's aid. This, according to police, allegedly provoked one of the guards to fire his shotgun, hitting Asturas in the body, who was immediately brought to the hospital. The suspect immediately fled the scene after the incident. Authorities recovered from the scene six armscor shotguns, one caliber .45 colt pistol, 15 pieces of 12 gauge ammunition, three caliber .45 magazines, three empty cartridge cases of 12 gauge shotgun, eight pieces of fired bullet of a suspected caliber .45, and two empty cartridge cases of caliber .45.
