BIR asks electronic taxpayers to file, pay taxes manually

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is asking taxpayers planning to use electronic filing and payment system (eFPS) to file their returns manually until 6 a.m. of May 17.

In an advisory, BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay said the system is currently unavailable as it is undergoing maintenance service.

The BIR chief said taxpayers shall also pay manually the corresponding taxes with the nearest authorized agent bank (AAB), or to revenue collection officer (RCO) without penalties for wrong venue payment.

The RCO is authorized to accept cash, or check payment regardless of the amount.

"The check shall be made payable to the Bureau of Internal Revenue even without indicating the name or branch of the bank," the advisory stated.

The BIR chief said that eFPS taxpayers may also file returns using the eBIRForms and pay manually through AAB and RCO.

He said taxpayers may also pay through the electronic payment (ePAY) facilities of Land Bank of the Philippines, Development Bank of the Philippines Union Bank of the Philippines, or through GCash, PayMaya and MyEG.
