LTFRB chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III ordered a crackdown on overcharging UV Express operators and drivers.
"That will make our hands full sa dami ng pupuntahang lugar pero definitely, we will address that as well," Delgra said after the Board found out that some UV Express operators have been overcharging passengers since 2007.
"There are UV Express going to Marikina and Cavite that are overcharging riders. We need to address that issue also," the LTFRB chief bared.
This was also discovered during Tuesday's hearing with eight UV Express associations seeking a P1.25 per kilometer provisional increase in their minimum fare.
With the current base rate of P2 per kilometers, drivers and operators plying the Marikina-Makati route, in particular, revealed they had been charging a P60 end-to-end trips covering around 25 kilometers.
Should the Board approve the petitioners’ request for a provisional increase, the maximum new fare could be at P81.25.
