IMUS CITY, Cavite – A nursing attendant and a respiratory therapist were reported as the new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Kawit, Cavite.
This was confirmed by Mayor Angelo Emilio G. Aguinaldo, who reported on Sunday, April 19, that the two patients would bring to three the number of COVID-19 cases in the municipality.
Aguinaldo identified the two latest patients as a 37-year-old male nursing attendant from Samala Marquez, Binakayan, Kawit, who was admitted at a hospital in Pasay City; and a 29-year-old female respiratory therapist from Kanluran, Binakayan, who is confined in a hospital in Parañaque City.
The two patients were reportedly front liners in hospitals where they were working for in Pasay and Parañaque.
The patients were reported 10 days after the municipal government announced the first case involving a 59-year-old security guard, and a resident of Barangay Tolclong who was working at a condominium in Makati City.
Aguinaldo said actions have been taken, including contact-tracing, after the cases were reported.
The local government placed the entire municipality under extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) last August 15.
Kawit, a first class coastal municipality in Cavite’s first district, has 23 barangays (villages) and a population of about 100,000.
