Jolina Magdangal is latest victim of plant scam

This should serve as warning to avid plantitos and plantitas.

Jolina Magdangal was fooled into buying plants from an unscrupulous online seller who eventually ran away with her money.

According to the singer-TV host's social media post, she transacted with the seller via Facebook Marketplace eager to grab hold of a Golden Barrel, a sought-after cactus variety.

"May isang seller na nagbebenta ng sobrang mura. Bumili tuloy ako sa kanya ng 3 gb at 7 pang kakaibang cactus. Ang ayos kausap, english speaking pa. Mode of payment ay gcash. Hapon ang huling text nya ay padeliver na ang mga order ko. At yun na ang huling text nya, nagme-message ako nung gabi hanggang monday after lunch. Wala na.. pinapatay na ang tawag sa gcash number na binigay nya," she shared.Â

Just to make sure, her husband, musicianÂ Mark Escueta, also called up the seller as a new customer.

Lo and behold, Mark received replies from the seller.

"(Pero) nung sinabihan ni Mark na asan na mga order ng asawa ko.. hindi na sinagot si Mark, at di na namin sya ma-search," Jolina related.

"First time nangyari sakin. Ganito pala feeling," she added.

She then reached out to the crooked online seller:

"Kung sino ka man 'Samantha' (yun ang gcash name nya, hindi ko alam kung yun talaga name nya), maawa ka naman sa mga taong ninanakawan mo ng pinaghihirapang pera.

"Alam kong mahirap ang buhay ngayon pero hindi yan ang paraan para kumita ka.

"Maaaring after nito ay magpalit ka na ng account pero malamang itutuloy mo parin yang panloloko mo.

"Ang Diyos ay nakikita ang lahat lahat. At pinagdasal na kita sa kanya."
