MTV EMA bares nominees for biggest fans, best local acts in Asia

MTV Asia has bared the nominees for biggest fans and the best local acts in Asia for the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA). (Twitter) For the Biggest Fans category, BTS’ ARMYs bagged a nomination along with fans of Camila Cabello, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes and Taylor Swift. For the Best Korea Act, the nominees are boy bands Pentagon and Golden Child, and girl groups Cosmic Girls, (G)I-DLE and Loona. The Philippines’ IV of Spades is nominated for Best Southeast Asia Act along with Afgan (Indonesia), Joe Flizzow (Malaysia), Minh Hang (Vietnam), Slot Machine (Thailand), The Sam Willows (Singapore) and social wildcard winner Twopee Southside (Thailand). In Southeast Asia, over 28,000 votes were cast by fans on Twitter to pick the seventh “social wildcard” nominee. The Best Greater China Act nominees are Alex To, LaLa Hsu, Loura Lou, Stringer Zhang and Sulong Wang while the Best Japan Act nominees are Daoko, Glim Spanky, Little Glee Monster, Wednesday Campanella and Yahyel. The winners will be determined by fan votes on the MTV EMA website. This year’s awards show will be held on Nov. 4 at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre in Spain. MTV Asia will air the show live. Voting will be until Nov. 3.
