68 Negros residents stranded in Manila flown home on sweeper flight

By Glazyl Masculino BACOLOD CITY - The provincial government of Negros Occidental facilitated on Saturday the repatriation of 68 persons who have been stranded in Manila ever since the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was implemented over a month ago. The provincial government said 11 Negrenses, who were supposed to join the “mercy flight”, backed out. According to Zeaphard Caelian, head of the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division, the 68 repatriates were brought to Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia town for the mandatory 14-day quarantine. The Provincial Health Office will attend to all their needs. They will also be subjected to a rapid antibody testing, just like what was administered to the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)-repatriates from Cebu who arrived here last month, that had two of them testing positive for COVID-19. Caelian said the two OFWs were still isolated at the provincial healing center in E.B. Magalona town while waiting for the results of their real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing for confirmation.
