The panel, chaired by Cagayan Rep. Randolph Ting pushed for the passage of House Bill 6770 as contained in its committee report no. 508.
HB 6770, principally authored by Baguio Rep. Mark Go, seeks to increase the service incentive leave of employees from five to 10 days with pay. Benefiting from the bill are those employees who have rendered at least one year of service.
The bill amends Article 95 of Presidential Decree No. 442, as amended, otherwise known as the Labor Code of the Philippines.
Such provision shall not apply to those who are already enjoying the benefit, those enjoying vacation leave with pay of at least 10 days and those employed in establishments regularly employing less than 10 employees or in establishments exempted from granting the benefit by the Secretary of Labor after considering the viability or financial condition of such establishment.
HB 6770 tasks the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to promulgate the implementing rules and regulations of the proposed Act.
