PANGASINAN -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office 1 is currently conducting validation and site visitation in the barangays here where ten (10) units of the Solar-Powered Irrigation System and twenty (20) Units of Small Solar Irrigation Pumps are set to be built.

The project will help not only the local farmers of Lingayen but will also boost agricultural production in the area.
Municipal Agriculturist Dr. Rodolfo Dela Cruz coordinated with the DA to identify and assess the areas that are the main sources of water and complete the proposal for validation.
At least thirty barangays will benefit from the Solar Powered Irrigation System project. These are Lasip, Rosario, Wawa, Aliwekwek, Basing, Dulag, Tumbar, Naguelguel, Bantayan, Quibaol, Namolan, Matalava, Tonton, Libsong East, Libsong West, Maniboc, Baay, Domalandan East, Domalandan West, Domalandan Center, Estanza, Sabangan, Malimpuec, Balangobong, Balococ, Pangapisan Sur, Talogtog, and Pangapisan North.
According to Dela Cruz, the locations were recommended by farmers' organizations which will be reviewed by the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED).
The DA solar-irrigation project aims to promote the protection and proper use of lands and water sources so that farmers can achieve a bountiful harvest and greater income.
