San Juan City warns against fake health clearances

The San Juan City government said clearances issued by the City Health Office (CHO) are free and warned persons against forging and selling health clearances.

“Ang pamemeke ng San Juan City Health Clearance ay labag sa batas. Hindi rin po ito ipinagbibili (Forging the San Juan City Health Clearance is against the law. The clearance is not for sale),” the city government said.

“Libre po ang pagkuha nito sa ating City Health Office. Hindi rin po ito valid na gamitin ng mga LSI (locally stranded individuals) at mga taong bumabiyahe sa ibang probinsya (The clearance is issued free of charge and not valid for use of LSIs and people traveling to other provinces),” it added.

The advisory was issued after police authorities arrested a graphic artist Friday for allegedly selling fake medical certificates and travel passes inside a popular shopping center in San Juan.

“Ang San Juan City Health Clearance na kulay pula ay para lamang sa mga manggagawa na balik-trabaho ngayong may Community Quarantine dito sa lungsod (The San Juan City Health Clearance which is color red is only for workers who are allowed to return to work under the general community quarantine),” the local government said.

Police said a concerned citizen went to the station to verify the “authenticity” of his wife’s health certificate and travel pass that they purchased from the shopping complex.

The San Juan CHO issued a certification stating that the documents were fake, and that the signature of the city health officer was scanned and forged, the police added.

The suspect allegedly sold the fake health certificate to undercover cops for P700.

He is under the custody of the San Juan Police facing charges for forgery and falsification of public documents.
