With Manny Pacquiao not scheduled to fight until late-June, the other key Filipino fighters are immediately heading back to training camp right after the holidays.

One of them actually is right in the thick of preparations for the first defense of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight crown on Jan. 29 in Macau.

Jerwin Ancajas is not taking the day off as he gets ready to face Jose Alfredo Rodriguez of Mexico at the Studio City Hotel.

The three others — World Boxing Organization bantam boss Marlon Tapales, ex-WBO minimumweight and light-fly king Donnie Nietes and former IBF fly ruler Johnriel Casimero — have been told to show up for training in the first week of 2017.

Tapales was supposed to defend his title for the first time yesterday but his showdown with Takuma Inoue in Tokyo was called off late last month after the challenger sustained an injury during training.

Nietes has been penciled to vie for the newly vacated IBF 112-lb title and will fly out of Bacolod City en route to Cebu City as well next week.

Casimero is on holiday in his native Leyte but has been recalled back by his trainer Jun Agrabio so they could kick off training.

Casimero was forced to abandon 112 lb owing to weight difficulties.

“Making 112 is becoming harder and harder for him so we decided to make the jump,” said Agrabio, noting that the lure of big bucks was also one of the reasons.

“The big name fighters are fighting at 115 so we’re going there to fight them,” he added.

Pacquiao, the reigning WBO welter king, won’t be back in the ring anytime soon as Top Rank chief Bob Arum has yet to discuss his plans with the eight-division champion.

Even though Pacquiao won’t be fighting soon, Arum believes that the fighting senator will likely have one more fight towards the end of the year.
