Two members of notorious criminal group operating in Cabanatuan City arrested in Talavera buy-bust
TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – A member of a big criminal group believed to be behind a series of robberies in Cabanatuan City and his companion were nabbed by Talavera police during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday, March 21, in Barangay Sampaloc in this town.
The Talavera police reported the arrest of a 20-year-old male member of Martinez criminal group and a 30-year-old male-construction worker after police agents were able to purchase shabu from them.
The two suspects whose names were withheld by the police are both residents of Barangay Bakod Bayan, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
During the arrest, another two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing five grams of shabu with an estimated dangerous drug board value of P40,000 and homemade Cal. 45 pistol with five ammunition were seized from their possession.
The group, according to the reports, is allegedly behind a series of robberies in Cabanatuan City, and victimizing convenience stores with the use of vault cutters.
The suspects are now under the custody of the Talavera Police and undergoing tactical interrogation to identify the other members of the group and their whereabouts.
The suspects will be facing charges for Violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition).
