6 men arrested for illegal drugs, firearms in Makati Six men caught with illegal drugs and firearms were arrested by patrolling policemen on Monday inside an apartelle in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City. Nabbed by authorities were Sherman Tolentino, 36; ConradoCuaresma, 36; Maricris Miranda, 36; Ricky Jerusalem, 25; LeonelSumagaysay, 25; and AzerEspina, 40. According to investigation, prior to the arrest of the suspects at 1:30 a.m., police were patrolling the area along Gen. Mascardo corner M. Reyes Streets in BrgyBangkal, Makati City when they saw a man who was acting "suspicious" and "unusual." The police called out the man, who immediately ran inside the Rosita Apartelle located at the area. Police said that they chased the man who hurriedly went inside room 201 of the said apartelle. Upon entering the room, the lawmen saw in plain view several drug paraphernalia and firearm. Authorities recovered five pieces of small heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu, two sachets of suspected marijuana, a digital weighing scale, two glass waterpipes, two lighters, three pieces of aluminum foil, and nine cellular phones. Also recovered were one high cap Armscor Caliber .45 pistol with two magazines loaded with 20 pieces of live ammunition and three motorcycles. Suspects were brought to Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Makati CPS for investigation and proper disposition. Also, coordination has been made by the Makati police to other police stations for possible follow-up operation on the cohorts of the suspects. They will then be brought for inquest proceedings before the Makati City Prosecutor's Office, facing charges in violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Dhel Nazario)  Two men linked to ‘Assume Tangay’ syndicate nabbed Two men linked to “Assume Tangay” syndicate were nabbed for alleged carnapping of five vehicles, including one owned by a police, in a casino in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Saturday afternoon. Elements of Manila Police District-Station 3 (MPD-PS3) collared Mark Krismon Gean Bofill Rusit, 22, male, single, businessman, and resident of #1209 Amaia Skies Subdivision, Avenida Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila; and Christopher Edia Orosco, 38, male, married, driver, and resident of 2nd Avenue, Guadalajara Street, Caloocan City at Windford Hotel and Casino located at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Tayuman Street at about 6:40 p.m. The operation was conducted after receiving complaints from PO1 Jeremy Turuel, 24, of Caloocan City; Henry Tojon, 51, businessman, of Dasmariñas, Cavite; John Medalla, 43, seaman, of Cubao, Quezon City; Emmanuel Cris Sorra, 31, IT administrator, of San Mateo, Rizal; and, Wilfredo Billon, 59, company employee, of Binangonan, Rizal. The victims said they sold their cars to the suspects, whom they met on Facebook, in Bacoor City in Cavite and Quezon City this year under “assumed balance” scheme. But despite the sale, one of them said he continued to receive a bank notice to settle his monthly amortization. He then had a hunch that he was deceived. Billon’s silver gray Chevrolet Sail and Turuel’s red Toyota Vios E., each amounting to P735,000 and P791,000, respectively, were recovered except for Medalla’s blue Hyundai Elantra, Tojon’s red Toyota Vios, and Sorra’s metallic orange Toyota Wigo. Alleged violation of Republic Act 10883 or New Anti-Carnapping Law and large-scale estafa were filed against the suspects. However, raps were later withdrawn by the victims upon learning that their case is not within the jurisdiction of MPD. Suspects were eventually released by cops. They are expected to return the remaining vehicles and the balance of the agreement to owners. (Ria Fernandez) Fetus inside shoebox found along shoreline in Manila A fetus was found in a shoebox in Manila Sunday morning. According to a police report, security guard Alfred Dagulungan discovered the fetus wrapped in plastic bag and stored inside a dilapidated shoebox while doing his routine along the shoreline at Block 1, Gasangan, Baseco Compound, Port Area at about 1:10 p.m. on Oct. 7. Said fetus was a male and about four to six months old. Dagulungan then informed the authorities about the incident. Then the fetus was brought to Archangel Funeral Service for safekeeping. Follow-up investigation is underway. (Ria Fernandez) Motorcycle rider killed after crashing into SUV A 64-year-old motorcycle rider was killed after he crashed in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Ermita, Manila early Saturday morning. The police identified the victim as Epifanio Reloza Cremat, resident of Bacoor, Cavite. He was rushed to the Philippine General Hospital but he later died while receiving treatment. Investigation showed the victim aboard a Euro motorcycle was driving along Remedios Street when he collided with Toyota Innova being driven by the suspect along the southbound lane of M.H. del Pilar Street at 4:15 a.m. in Ermita, Manila on Oct. 6. Probers said the victim was thrown off his motorcycle and landed on the concrete ground head first because of the strong impact of the crash. His motorcycle was also heavily damaged. PO1 Lester Montero of the Remedios Police Community Precinct arrested the SUV driver, identified as Fernando Gascon Fernandez, 56, of Sitio Cacalog Cageo, Antipolo City. The suspect remains in the custody of the Vehicle Traffic Investigation Section of the Manila Police District and he will be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property. (Erma Edera) Barangay tanod nabbed for stabbing scavenger sleeping on footbridge A barangay tanod was arrested by police after he allegedly stabbed a scavenger who was sleeping on a footbridge on Sunday evening in Caloocan City. The police identified the suspect as Jomar Dela Cruz, 25, resident of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City while the victim was identified as Noel Aljecera , 40. Initial investigation showed the victim was sleeping when the suspect suddenly appeared and stabbed the victim several times at 7 p.m. along Gen. Tirona footbridge in Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City. The suspect immediately fled toward unknown direction, police report showed. The body was brought to Eusebio Funeral Service for autopsy and safekeeping. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.  (Erma Edera) Pasig police take two minors under custody for firing shots at male student Police took two minors into custody on Sunday for firing shots at an 18-year-old male student in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City. Report showed that at around 1:30 a.m., the victim identified as Donn Juven Martinez, 18, second year high school student, was having a conversation with his 16-year-old brother and his brother’s girlfriend along M.H. Del Pilar Street in Purok Camia when the 15- and 16-year-old male suspects suddenly came in motorcycle and fired shots at them. The victim and his companions hurriedly hid behind a parked car near the vicinity. However, the two continued firing shots using an unidentified caliber of firearm, hitting Martinez's right foot. The suspects then sped off toward unknown direction. Martinez was rushed by his live-in partner to the hospital while his younger brother and girlfriend proceeded to the barangay to report the incident. Together with the elements of the Pasig City Police Community Precinct 8 (PCP-8), the barangay security forces immediately carried out a follow-up investigation after confirming the identities of the two suspects through the witnesses’ account. The team went to the houses of the suspects who were living nearby. They were arrested an hour after the crime was committed. Though the firearm used was no longer recovered, the police confiscated a deformed slug from one of the suspects’ possession which was already submitted to the Eastern Police District Crime Laboratory Office (EPD-CLO) for a paraffin examination. Meanwhile, Senior Police Officer (SPO) 1 Abigail Saguid, investigator on case, added that the victim could not be the real target of two as it was the victim’s younger brother who has a lingering dispute with the two minor suspects. The suspects, who were categorized as Child In Conflict with the Law (CICL), are now placed under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) custody. (Hanah Tabiso) P41,000 carted from laundromat A total P41,000 was carted from a laundromat by a still unidentified burglar in Pasig City early morning Monday. Police said that Annamae Cover, 27, manager of "One Big Wash Laundry Shop" located in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City, reported the alleged robbery at the Pasig City Police Station. At around 4:30 a.m., Cover discovered that the drawers and cabinets of the store's cashier were forcibly opened. Upon checking, Cover learned that the P41,000 profit of the laundromat was missing. The manager told probers that she also noticed a hole in the roof where the burglar possibly entered. Police are now trying to get the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footages of the building to identify the burglar. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
