As part of the DOPMC expansion, the four-story building project was initiated to add more wards, private and semi-private rooms, and nurses’ station to the hospital.
It is being built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) through the convergence program with the Department of Health (DOH).
According to Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, a total of P41 million was allocated to finish the project which started in January this year.
He said that, aside from wards and nurse’s stations, the new facility will also house isolation rooms as well as kitchen, laundry, and restrooms.
“It’ construction is now in full blast and will soon be serviceable to the public,” Villar said following a report from Director Allan Borromeo that the DPWH-Davao Oriental Second District Engineering Office is fast-tracking the completion of the additional facility in the hospital compound.
“This additional facility is expected to enhance the delivery of health care services to patients not only in the provincial capital in Mati City but for the whole province of Davao Oriental,” said Secretary Villar.
