The Valenzuela City government conducted muffler sound level tests in line with the strict implementation of City Ordinance No. 390 or the Motorcycle Noise Regulation Ordinance on Monday.
Those whose motorcycles produce sound of more than 90 decibels on a quarter-turn of its acceleration and more than 100 decibels on a throttle shall be reprimanded.
Motorists who are caught committing this violation will pay a fine of P300 for their first offense. Multiple violations may lead to impounding of the vehicle.
Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian warned motorists to comply with the city ordinance.
"If maingay ang motorbike mo, wag mo na ilabas hanggang maiayos mo ang muffler nito (If your motorbike is loud, do not take it out of the house until you get its muffler fixed)," he said in a Facebook post.
