The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured the public on Saturday, May 16, that it had standby funds and stockpiles to provide relief assistance to the areas hit by tropical storm "Ambo. "

According to DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao, the agency is also coordinating with the Office of Civil Defense for the immediate transportation of relief goods to the affected areas.
She noted that the DSWD had standby funds amounting to more than P239 million.
"Ang DSWD sa kasalukuyan ay mayroon tayong standby funds na mahigit P239 million, P199 million of that ay magagamit po as Quick Response Funds (The DSWD, at present, has standby funds amounting to more than P239 million, P199 million of that can be used as Quick Response Funds)," Dumlao said.
Of the P239.36 million standby funds, P199.91 million is the Central Office's available Quick Response Fund (QRF), based on the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report, as of 6 a.m., today (May 16).
While the available funds at the Field Offices amounted to P39.44 million, it said.
Dumlao said they have P176 million worth of 391,600 family food packs (FFPs) that are ready for distribution, and non-food items (FNIs) amounting to more P483 million.
"This will be used as augmentation support to our local government units to enable them to respond to the needs of their constituents," she said.
She noted FFPs have been delivered to Regions V 7(Bicol) and VIII (Eastern Visayas).
Based on the DROMIC report, a total of 823,502 FFPs worth P345.75 million have been distributed nationwide.
Of this, Region V got 77,724 FFPs, while Region VIII received 7,613 FFPs.
"Nakikipagtulungan tayo sa ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan particular sa Office of Civil Defense para naman po sa provision ng naval assets para makapagpahatid tayo ng karagdagang family food packs sa iba pa pong lugar na naapektuhan ng bagyong Ambo (We are cooperating with other government agencies, particularly with the Office of Civil Defense for the provision of naval assets so we can deliver additional family food packs to other areas affected by Typhoon Ambo)," Dumlao said.
Aside from 391,600 FFPs, the DSWD has stockpiles of food items worth P266.94 million, according to the DROMIC.
The total stockpiles amounts to P927.76 milllion, according to the same report.
