Jollibee Singapore apologizes for social distancing violations, pays SG $1,000 fine

By Rizal Obanil Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) issued an apology April 14, Tuesday, after one of its stores in Singapore was fined for alleged violation of social distancing protocols. “Jollibee Singapore sincerely apologizes for this and has consequently further intensified its social distancing measures. Jollibee Singapore has also requested the help of its third-party delivery rider partners to cooperate with its branches’ staff to follow these protocols for everyone’s safety,” the statement read. JFC said the incident happened on April 12 at their Woodlands MRT branch. The alleged violation, according to the company, happened when their staff were not able to control the queue for deliveries and third-party delivery riders. JFC was fined SG $1,000 by the Singapore Tourism Board for allegedly failing to enforce proper safe social distancing measures to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). As evidence against JFC, the STB attached a photo of third-party food delivery service drivers waiting in line but were less than a meter apart from each other.
