PhilHealth President and CEO Ricardo Morales said that victims who are PhilHealth members needing confinement in public or private hospitals, can avail of their benefits and "expect assistance from the state insurance firm."
Non-members confined in government hospitals can avail of the Point of Service (POS) Program.
"PhilHealth pays up to P6,000 for food poisoning or acute gastroenteritis with moderate to severe dehydration when confined in any PhilHealth accredited hospital,” he said.
Morales said that they have customer assistance, relations and empowerment staff (CARES) stationed in public and private hospitals to assist the victims in availing of their benefits.
"We want to assure those affected that in case hospitalization is required, they can bank on their PhilHealth coverage for financial protection," he said
"This is consistent with PhilHealth’s mandate to provide responsive health care benefits to its members at all times, more so during emergency cases where help is needed the most," he added.
Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III appealed to all those who attended the event to "seek medical attention at the onset of signs and symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, weakness, fever, and chills."
As of Thursday, a total of 261 people were admitted at different hospitals within the Mandaluyong-Pasig-Marikina area, the DOH said.
They were admitted in The Medical City (100 patients), Rizal Medical Center (43 patients), Victor Potenciano Hospital (23 patients), Pasig City General Hospital (40 patients), Cardinal Santos Medical Center (20 patients), Tri-City Medical Center (20 patients), Mandaluyong Medical Center (five patients), Ospital ng Makati (four patients), and Amang Rodriguez Medical Center (six patients).
On Wednesday, some guests were hospitalized for suspected food poisoning after attending the Marcos matriarch’s birthday party held at Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig City.
