Bayang Barrios raises funds online for North Cotabato quake survivors

Seasoned singer Bayang Barrios has made use of technology to do good, mounting a live jamming session on her Facebook account while encouraging viewers to make a donation for survivors of the North Cotabato quake.

The 51-year-old musician who hails from Bunawan, Agusan del Sur performed with the Ang Naliyagan band.

“Ito lang po ‘yung naisip namin paraan para makatulong kami sa Mindanao particularly sa North Cotabato na malaking-malaki po ang pinsala duon,” she said right before the performance.

She also provided bank details of people she trusts to relay the help, namely Balay Mindanao Foudation Inc. and Central Mindanao Colleges.

“Sila po ang mga pinagkakatiwalaan ko na pwede kayo magpadala ng donation sa kanilang bank account, sa kanila diretso — sa mga nangangailangan. So ito po ang munting, maliit na paraan namin para makatulong,” she related.

Bayang Barrios, who is known for her use of indigenous instruments and styles, added they’re doing a fund-raising event on Nov. 12 at 70s Bistro in Quezon City.

According to her, the likes of OPM singers Joey Ayala, Gary Granada, Cookie Chua, Kakai Bautista, Pepe Herrera, and Noel Cabangon will perform at the event.

“Sana mas marami pa ang mga kababayan nating artists na tutulong,” she said. “Kung dadami, kahit maliit lang na halaga, lalaki din iyan.”
