Neophyte Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has topped a survey on the performance of local chief executives in the National Capital Region in their response to the coronavirus emergency.

The survey was conducted by RP Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMDinc), among 3,000 respondents -- all residents of Metro Manila -- from June 10-15.
Survey results showed Pasig residents gave Sotto and the city government 86 percent approval rating in responding to and addressing the health emergency.
Quezon city Mayor Joy Belmonte came in second with 80 percent, followed by Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso (78 percent), Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro (74 percent), and Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian (72 percent).
Pasay City, Las Piñas and Malabon Cities got low approval ratings at 25, 26 and 27 percent respectively in the National Capital Region (NCR) Mayor COVID-19 Performance Survey.
Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMDinc said the assessment was based on security and public order, welfare of residents through relief goods, financial assistance and distribution, establishment of health protocols and security measures in the city, food security, and efficiency of the efforts being implemented.
"The survey was conducted with the intention to reassess the efforts done by the Local Government Units and its officials amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The public's reactions towards the leadership, management of local chief executives," Martinez added.
