Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon announced last Wednesday noon the cancellation of import permits his office issued to Mighty Corporation after the company got involved in the tax controversy.
"Today, I announce the cancellation of all import permits our office issued to Mighty Corporation for being involved in defrauding the government. We have a strong evidence of economic sabotage against this company," Commissioner Faeldon said in an interview.
Faeldon said it is the consequences the company will face after being involved in the documentary tax controversy and they are building a strong case against the company.
Faeldon accompanied by Tacloban Bureau of Customs Collector Avelino Alberca and Bureau of Internal Revenue 14 Director Teodoro Galicia inspected the one container of seized Mighty cigarettes at the Tacloban City Port Area.
The seized one container of Mighty cigarettes worth P6 million arrived at the Port of Tacloban last Monday from Manila.
Galicia said the seized cigarettes will be deposited at their regional office compound in Pawing, Palo, Leyte and will be used as evidence against the cigarette company as he showed to Faeldon and Collector Alberca of the fake documentary stamps tax from the seized cigarettes.
