Acting City Mayor Jhoanna Villamor said the march is a symbol of solidarity of the people of Tanauan City in seeking justice for the death of the 72-year-old Halili.
"Nananawagan ako sa lahat ng Tanaueños na sana ay patuloy tayong magdasal para sa pamilya ni Mayor Thony at sana ay mabigyan nang hustisya ang kanyang pagkamatay (I appeal to all Tanaueños to continue praying for the family of Mayor and I hope justice will be served)," Villamor told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview Saturday.
Villamor said the solidarity march will start at 6 a.m. at the Plaza Mabini and will proceed to Halili's house at Josefa Village in Barangay Sambat where his wake is held.
The march will then accompany the remains of Mayor Halili to the Saint John the Evangelist (SJE) Parish Church where a funeral mass will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The remains of Halili will be brought to the Tanauan City Hall for a public viewing and necrological service scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
At 2:30 p.m., the funeral march will start moving from Tanuan City Hall to Loyola Gardens (near city hall), where he will be buried. Internment is at 3 p.m.
Wear yellow
Those who will join the “Walk for Justice” are encouraged to wear a yellow shirt. Tanauan City Hall employees will wear a yellow shirt with the city logo with a black ribbon on top of it. Attendees are also urged to bring flowers, candles or white balloons.
Secured area
Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, regional director of Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO-4A), said at least 100 personnel from the Tanauan City Police will be deployed to secure the area during the whole activity.
Road closure
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, the road from the Saint John the Evangelist Parish Church to Tanuan City Hall will be closed. Motorists are advised to avoid parking their vehicles along A. Mabini Avenue to Tanauan City Hall.
Motorists who will be coming from Talisay, Batangas are advised to pass through Sala Road while those coming from Tanauan City proper will have to go through Trapiche or Tinurik Road to avoid gridlock.
Blank wall
Police are still facing a blank wall as to the identity of the gunman who appeared to leave no clue aside from the bullet and empty shell he used to kill Halili.
Carranza has appealed for public understanding and vowed that they are doing everything to identify the assailant.
Acting Mayor Villamor urged the police to expedite the resolution of the case as she vowed to continue the efforts of Halili in leading the people of Tanauan City.
"Nananawaganakosa PNP nasanagawinnilaanglahatparamabigyannghustisyaangpagkamatayni Mayor ThonyHalili (I appeal to the to do everything they can to give justice to Mayor Halili's death)," Villamor said.
Halili was serving his second term as mayor of Tanauan City after being elected in 2013.
He rose to fame after his controversial "walk of shame" campaign where arrested criminals, including drug suspects, were paraded around the city proper as a way to teach them a lesson.
Halili was shot dead while attending a flag-raising ceremony on July 2, Monday, at the grounds of the New Tanauan City Hall in Barangay Natatas.
Among the motives eyed by the police are illegal drugs –either his alleged involvement in President Duterte'snarco-list or his controversial "walk of shame campaign," –politics, business, and land dispute involving a general.
