TAGBILARAN CITY –The Bohol Isang Dugo Foundation is in the thick of preparations for the 2019 Sandugo Festival in July.
The festival will have four major events-- the Song Festival, Miss Bohol Competition, Trade Fair and Street Dancing.
Provincial EdCom head Augustus Escobia, governor-elect Arthur Yap and outgoing governor Edgar Chatto discussed the details for the transition, assumption to office of the newly elected officials and the Sandugo Festival.
Escobia said the festival encourages the use of Visayan, Cebuano Boholano dialects for the song’s lyrics. The competition theme and writing styles are open-ended and experimentation and discovery are encouraged, he said.
The competition is limited to resident and non-resident Boholanos or composers of Boholano descent, who must present a birth certificate upon submission of song entry, Escobia said.
An entry may be written in a popular or contemporary style in any form or structure. It should not exceed four minutes, including the intro and extro.
Lyrics must be in a regional language, a Visayan-Cebuano or Boholano dialect.
English terms may be used or combined if they contribute to the total charm and effect of the song.
Colloquial expressions and other made-up terms are allowable as well.
