TAYABAS City, Quezon – The World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WNBF)-Philippines has selected Kamayan sa Palaisdaan as the venue of its fifth competition on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Tina Decal, of Kulinarya Tagala, travel agency owner, and the former president of the Tourism Organization of Quezon Province Philippines Inc. (TPQPPI), said that they assisted in paving the way for the WNBF-PH to identify the places suited for the event and the local government unit of Tayabas City Tourism Office and the Quezon Province Tourism Office supported in promoting the event.
The event is an international bodybuilding competition that highlights fitness, wellness, and its advocacy for drug-free sports, Decal said.
Decal added that WNBF Philippines president Christopher Byrne is expecting to draw over 200 guests, contestants, and fitness enthusiasts from the Philippines and around the world.
"Last year, it was in San Jose in Tarlac, this year, I wanted to showcase the beautiful province of Quezon, the area where my family is from,” Byrne said.
Byrne was born and raised in Canada by an Irish father and a Filipina mother from Sariaya, Quezon, according to Decal.
The one-day competition will give awards and professional cards in three categories such as men’s bodybuilding, men’s physique, and women’s bikini.
Accordingly, athletes of the WNBF must take a polygraph exam before stepping on stage to determine that they have been 10 years drug-free. Winners and random athletes are required to submit a urine sample. This sample is sent to a WADA-approved laboratory in California and tested for banned substances, including diuretics, anabolic steroids, clenbuterol, and other Performance Enhancement Drugs (PEDs).
The WNBF separates itself from other bodybuilding organizations by actually testing its athletes. WNBF competitors can be assured that they are stepping on a truly natural stage.
For the spectators, fitness enthusiasts, and upcoming athletes, it is an opportunity to prove that a superb physique and large muscles can be achieved by eating well and by following an intense training regimen without the use of any PEDs.
