Investigators of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the victim was identified through the recovered identification card as Judymar Molina, believed to be in his early 50s wearing a gray sweatshirt and black short pants with "BCJ" tattooed on his back. An initial report showed that a witness was inside his barracks on the corner of Araneta Avenue and Maria Clara Street in Barangay Talayan around 3:45 a.m. when he heard a gunshot nearby. The witness, a stay-in traffic maintenance, tried to check what happened but the area was too dark. It was around 4 a.m. when the witness saw the bloodied body of the victim lying near the entrance of Talayan Village after a truck passed by. This prompted him to report the incident to barangay authorities who relayed the information to the police. Probers believed the victim was executed as his hands were tied by a cable strap behind his back and gunshot wounds were noted at the back of his head. One fired bullet of a caliber .45 handgun was also recovered in the crime scene.
