2 men arrested for possession of illegal drugs and firearms
A man and his uncle were nabbed after authorities reportedly seized at least 12 sachets of suspected "shabu," an illegal firearm and ammunition inside their house in Caloocan City Friday night.
Sr. Supt. Jemar Modequillo, city chief of police, identified the suspects as Jimmy Ausa, 40, electrician and Nolan Manansala, 48, painter. Both are residents of Tanigue Street in Barangay Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Victoriano Cabaños of the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 127, the raiding team swooped down on the house of Ausa at 10:50 p.m.
Ausa tried to flee by jumping from the window of their house but the policemen were able to apprehend him, Modequillo said.
Citing the after-operation report, Modequillo added that five sachets of suspected shabu were seized in Dohinog's pocket and another five sachets were also found near an altar inside his house.
Ausa admitted that he is a drug user for eight years already. However, he insisted that he does not sell illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, Manansala, who ran away when he saw the policemen, was also nabbed. Upon frisking, two sachets of suspected shabu were also found in his pocket, police said.
Manansala also admitted that he is a drug user for almost a year already.
Modequillo clarified that the finding of illegal drugs was only accidental as the subject of the warrant was for illegal firearms.
"Residents said that Ausa is a tough guy in the area. He always brings a gun," Modequillo explained.
The raiding team also found a caliber .38 revolver without a serial number and four bullets.
Charges will be filed against Ausa and Manansala who are now detained at the Caloocan police detention cell. (Kate Louise Javier)
‘Drunk’ man attacks girl after being ignored
A woman was not only verbally abused in San Andres Bukid, Manila Saturday, but was also physically hurt by her harasser after she ignored him.
Initial investigation showed that Jodylyn Reyes, 18, of 1799 Raymundo St., San Andres Bukid, Manila was in front of Dagonoy Market at around 3 a.m. yesterday when the suspect, identified as Oscar Depaz, 22, of 1661 Crisolita St., San Andres Bukid, Manila, tried to get her attention by shouting at her to have sex with him.
When Reyes ignored Depaz, he proceeded to grab the victim’s hair and started banging her head against one of the cars parked in the area, police said.
The police added that despite repeatedly begging Depaz to stop, the suspect seemed to have not heard any of the victim’s pleas as he continued hitting Reyes on both her arms and face.
Authorities were quick to respond to the incident, and they were able to apprehend Depaz, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, who was then immediately brought to the Dagonoy Police Community Precinct where he was charged for physical abuse.
