Educational aid extended to 89,736 beneficiaries so far, says DSWD
At least 89,736 indigent students have so far benefited from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) cash assistance program.

DSWD on Sunday, Sept. 4, reported that the third Saturday schedule for the provision of educational aid went “orderly” and smoothly, further increasing the department’s beneficiaries to over 89,000 with the amount of assistance hitting P225,372,000 as of Sept. 3.
“Educational pay-out sites have significantly increased, with the Field Offices coordinating with their respective local government units (LGUs) for the identification of additional sites,” said DSWD Spokesperson Romel Lopez.
To further improve the distribution of aid, DSWD started conducting off-site pay-outs. This method, according to DSWD, aims to serve those who are qualified to receive financial aid but have no access to gadgets as well as online registration.
“Field Offices Calabarzon, MIMAROPA, and pilot tested the conduct of off-site payouts,” said Lopez.
DSWD then reiterated that the walk-in policy is still not implemented to ensure the safety of its personnel and the beneficiaries.
The aforementioned educational assistance is under DSWD’s Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS). Under the said program, elementary students are set to receive P1,000, high school students, on the other hand, will be given P2,000. Senior high learners will get P3,000 while college or students under vocational courses may receive P4,000.
Up to three children from each family may qualify for the said financial assistance.
“Those qualified and in crisis but will be subjected to cut off limitations can still apply for other types of assistance under AICS program depending on their specific needs such as transportation assistance, food assistance, among others,” Lopez added.
