Bayambang, Pangasinan orders forced evacuation in 36 Agno River barangays

BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan — Bayambang Mayor Nina Jose Quiambao has ordered the implementation of forced evacuation in 36 barangays located along the Agno River amid continued rainfall and the anticipated increase in water flow that could threaten lives and property.

In a public advisory issued August 29, Quiambao directed residents living along riverbanks and in low-lying, flood-prone areas to immediately evacuate to safer locations.

The order was issued as a precautionary measure against the possible rise of water levels in the Agno River.

This may result in flooding and pose serious risks to communities situated near the river.

Residents were urged to coordinate with their respective barangay officials and strictly follow the directives of authorities.

They were also advised not to wait for floodwaters to reach dangerous levels before evacuating.

The 36 barangays covered by the directive are Amancosiling Norte, Amancosiling Sur, Ambayat 1st, Ambayat 2nd, Ataynan, Bacnono, Bongato East, Bongato West, Buenlag 1st, Buenlag 2nd, Carungay, Darawe, Hermoza, Iton, Malioer, Managos, Manambong Norte, Manambong Parte, Manambong Sur, Mangayao, Nalsian Norte, Nalsian Sur, Pangdel, Pantol, Paragos, Poblacion Sur, Pugo, Reynado, San Gabriel 1st, San Vicente, San Gabriel 2nd, Tamaro, Tambac, Tampog, Warding, and Wawa.

Quiambao appealed to residents to cooperate with local authorities and prioritize their safety as monitoring of the Agno River and surrounding areas continues.
