Elderly passerby killed in Baguio road crash

BAGUIO CITY -- A 64-year-old pedestrian was run over by an out-of-control van that also resulted in a four-vehicle accident at the junction of Magsaysay Avenue and Hilltop Street,Baguio City at 4 p.m of August 28.

Initial investigatio said, the victim was hit by closed van driven by a 48-year-old man which allegedly developed a mechanical trouble while traveling down Hilltop Street toward Magsaysay Avenue.

The van then reportedly collided with a pickup being driven by a 28-year-old businessman, and a Toyota Innova with a 21-year-old student as driver.

The impact caused the van to swerve toward the outer lane, where it collided with a taxi being driven by a 44-year-old man.

Responding personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection provided initial medical treatment to the victim. However, he was later declared dead by the Baguio City Emergency Medical Service Head and Medical Officer Dandeo Halog.

All four vehicles involved sustained damages of undetermined cost.
