Former NPA finance officer yields in Negros

BACOLOD CITY - An alleged former finance logistic officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) voluntarily surrendered to the authorities in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, August 27.

According to a report from the 3rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Negros Island Region (RMFB-NIR), the former rebel approached the authorities through intelligence-driven initiative, expressing his desire to return to the government and his family.

During the surrender, the rebel returnee turned over a caliber .38 revolver without serial number, and five live ammunition.

He then underwent initial profiling and debriefing and received cash assistance and a sack of rice as immediate assistance to his family.

In a statement, the 3rd Maneuver Company vowed to continue its efforts and remain committed to sustain peace and order in the community.

They also encouraged others who are still involved in lawless activities to lay down their arms and choose the path of lawful and peaceful living.
