Rupert Grint reprises Ron Weasley for Broadway run

Rupert Grint is returning to the wizarding world, this time on the Broadway stage.

The actor will reprise his iconic role as Ron Weasley in "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," marking his return to the character more than a decade after the conclusion of the "Harry Potter" film series.

Grint is set to portray the adult Ron Weasley for a limited 17-week run beginning February 2, 2027. The stage production continues the story of the wizarding world years after the events of the original book series.

In a statement, Grint reflected on the significance of stepping back into the role he first played at just 11 years old. He said returning to Ron at this stage of his life feels both familiar and new, especially now that he is a father himself.

Grint's Broadway return comes shortly after fellow "Harry Potter" film star Tom Felton brought Draco Malfoy to the stage in the same production. Felton is scheduled to finish his run on January 3, 2027.

Ron Weasley was one of the central characters in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" book series. Grint portrayed Ron in all eight film adaptations, released from 2001 to 2011, alongside Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.

His upcoming Broadway engagement will reunite Grint with one of the most defining characters of his career while giving longtime fans a new opportunity to see Ron Weasley brought to life on stage.
